The Space Between II

Our second The Space Between event brought together over 160 percussionists to discuss with research findings useful for their musical lives. Hosted at McGill University in conjunction with the Quebec Percussive Arts Society’s annual Day of Percussion, this event attracted percussionists from across Canada, as well as the U.S., Mexico, and Japan.
A unique opportunity to advance the percussive arts across Canada
Percussionists from around the world gathered to discuss topics ranging from psychologically preparedness for performances to the construction of cymbals. With keynote presentations, lecture-demonstrations, research posters, and multiple evening concerts, this two day event demonstrates CPN’s ability to build a Canadian percussion community of global interest.
We are grateful for financial support from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), McMaster Faculty of Humanities, and the Schulich School of Music, which allowed us to offer this event free of charge to participants and attendees.
