The Space Between

Vision
The Space Between events connect percussionists with research useful for our musical lives. These meetings offer a valuable opportunity for leading researchers to share the musical applications of their findings, while percussionists can gain skills and connections for pursuing research projects with artistic value.
These in-person events offer opportunities for networking, mentorship, and live performance. This complements our virtual programming between events, which build connections within the Canadian percussion community by removing geographical and financial barriers to travel for in-person events. Sessions from these events are archived on this site to afford access to those who were unable to attend in person.
Several collaborations and partnerships have developed as a result of connections at these events, helping to advance both research and performance related to percussion.

CPN is grateful to the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the McMaster Faculty of Humanities for their financial support, which allowed us to offer this event free of charge to participants and attendees.
